Craps Lesson #2 

Line bets:

The person who rolls the dice in craps is called the shooter, and they are required to make a Pass Line bet.  But what is a Pass line bet?

Pass Line Bet:  This is the “it” bet of craps meaning it is the most used by gamblers and should be by you.  A pass line bet is a bet that the shooter will win their point number.  On the Come-out roll … 7 and 11 are winning rolls.  2,3, and 12 will lose you money (“crapping out”).  If the roll is any other number (4-6,8-10) then that number becomes the point number; at which point it is the shooters goal to roll the point number again before they roll a 7 or “Seven out”/”Natural”.  The Pass line bet wins even money. 

Don’t Pass Line Bet:  This bet is for the shooter to not make their point number and is the opposite of the Pass Line Bet. If the come-out roll is a 7 or 11 then it is a losing bet.  If the come-out roll is a 2,3, or 12 it is a winning bet. 

Pass Odds:     This bet happens when a 4-6,8-10 is rolled on the Come Out Roll establishing a point number.  3-5x the pass line bet. This bet is attached to the Pass Line bet and wins if it wins and loses if it loses.  It pays at the true odds of 2:1 if 4 or 10 is the point number, 3:2 if 5 or 9 was the point number, and 6:5 if 6 or 8 is the point number.

Come Bet: This bet is similar to a pass line bet but is completely independent.  This bet “comes” out when the shooter next rolls the dice even though the shooter is already trying to hit their point number.  The come bet will win on a 7 or 11 on its first roll and will lose to a 2, 3, or a 12 will cause them lose their bet.  If a 4-6,8-10 is rolled then the shooter must hit that number before they roll a 7 or “Natural”.  Please note that a Come Bet can only be placed after the point number has been established.  If the point number has not been established the casino will move it to the pass line.  Another important thing to keep in mind that as the come bet is identical to the Pass Line Bet you can also lay odds on the come bet as you would with the pass line bet.
